The Beauty of California Donuts | 7 Donut Tips For Donut Fans

A donut is a donut is a donut; some donuts, however, are better than others. And that’s why you need to go to CALIFORNIA DONUTS.

California Donuts | 7 Donut Tips That Will DEFINITELY Change Your Life at https://itsalisa.com/2016/01/31/california-donuts/

Aren’t they beautiful?!

I prefer California Donuts over any other donut because of what I like to call “The IN N OUT Factor.” You see, they may not be the best donuts in the world, BUT they are the BEST cheap option that’s also fast, convenient, open late, photographs well, and NEVER fails to deliver.

Fabulous Fashion that does not compromise Form and Function – The Summer Design Series Event

An event featuring women, design, fashion, AND a healthy lifestyle? Don’t mind if I do!

Tuesday night I had the honor of attending Ron Robinson and Summer Design Series event, held at his shared Fred Segal’s Melrose location.

Ron Robinson Summer Design Series | itsaLisa.com

Fred Segal’s shop is simply fabulous,

both on the outside and the inside. From their famous vine-clad exterior walls that line the front to around back where you find Mauro’s italian cafe with punchy chairs and a buzzworthy crowd. (No Kanye this time). Then you step inside through a maze of boutique collections merchandised by the just-as-fab crew. Ok maybe I’m being overzealous, I just moved to LA and haven’t hung out in this “LA scene” much, or maybe it’s because my coworkers are all straight… Either way, can’t you tell I need this atmosphere of eccentricity back in my life?

fred segal | as told by itsaLisa.com

The event offered free vegetable juice, and free vegetable crackers dipped in a vegetable sauce, oh, and free veggie pizza! Mmmm. Disclaimer: the crust definitely tasted like cardstock, so I can confirm the menu was Gluten Free. *clink* Bottoms up!

So while balancing all things vegetable, and iPhone, in my 2 hands, I managed to snag some photos of the merch and the friendly designers who were sporting their goods. (AND I didn’t get tomato on anything.)

Nesh NYC at Fred Segal | itsaLisa.com

Next up we have Bree Chambers of Nesh NYC (@neshnyc) and friend Nicole Sciacca of Hustle & Flow Fitness (@hustleflowfit).

Nesh NYC was definitely my favorite line of the night. Chambers flawlessly forms monochrome tones into sleek sporty shapes that perfectly hug and drape the body in an effortlessly chic way. Perfect for yogis going straight from asante-sana-squash-banana to nya-seven-ya. Or you know, for me, the girl who walks to work and lives in DTLA. Also, this is a thing: #NESHING. #loveit

Here’s one of me eyeing that silvery silver leotard. But I mean, just look at my own outfit… I belong in these clothes, no?

We, the designers and I, discussed the difference of East Coast and West Coast style. Out here activewear is part of our wardrobe staples. What I am wearing is perfectly acceptable for work garb, granted I might need to throw on a chic blazer for a board meeting. While this is the norm for us socal-locals, those glammed out New Yorkers are just starting to adopt our laid-back trend way of life. Here’s a little hint upper-east-siders: well-cut leggings + effortlessly draped silhouettes + simple accessories = YES PUHLEASE. You can thank me later.

To cap off the event,

here’s a photo of Lauren and I being typical girls Social Media Girls. Things to do when it’s summer, or almost summer, or whatever.

Endless Summer | Paddle Boarding Huntington Beach (itsaLisa.com)

When you live in a place as beautiful as this, summer comes and goes… but not really. So what do you do during the “off-season?” Whatever you want, because it’s still a great day.

This weekend we went Stand Up Paddle Boarding, and where’s a good place to try it? Huntington Harbour of course, mainly because if you get lost, you can probably ask a neighbor passing by on a Duffy for help and they’ll pull you in. It’s not like I would know from experience, but the thought crossed my mind a lot while our paddle speed was less than or equal to the speed of the current….

So go make the most of the weather, grab some friends, put on whatever you won’t mind getting wet ( you know – just in case ) and get out there! In case you were curious, I took these photos with a waterproof camera ( The Nikon Coolpix AW100 – love it ) and NOT my phone, because that would have been real dumb.

So here’s to another great adventure by the weekenders! What did you do with your #SundayFunday?

XOXO @itsa_Lisa.

AMAZING Footage of Dolphins and Their Babies in The Wild

Some of you might be familiar with that whale watching video (found here) which went viral last week. It was filmed by the very same group that took me on my own spectacular whale watching adventure in Dana Point, Captain Dave’s Dolphin and Whale Watching Safari: DolphinSafari.com.

They took us on an exhilarating tour along Orange County’s coastline. First we followed a gray whale on its lonely migration north, then we found this pod of stampeding dolphins. It was too cool for words, so I made a short video instead. Can you spot the babies swimming with their mamas?

Help save the whales with Captain Dave through their charity organization: TheCareTakers.org.

Winter in San Diego

“It’s the dead of winter, I need a vacation stat!” Is something I would say if I lived in cold weather, but I live in the beautiful region of Southern California where vacas are just a hop a skip and a jump away! Before I could count to 83 degrees I was hurdling down the 5 to sunny San Diego to visit my girls from college for the weekend. And boy have they got it going on…

Disneyland in the Fall!

Disneyland in the fall is fun for all! The park is layered with pumpkins and autumn leaves, and the added rides with halloween themes!

The pleasure of going to this home-away-from-home last week was all mine, and my friends Kelsi and Lauren’s. (Special thanks to Lauren for taking us!) We spent the afternoon and evening snacking on delicious Disney food, standing in lines, going on rides, people watching, and donning our lovely tourist mouse ears. As you can tell…

Be sure to check out the Halloween rides while you can! The crowd favorite is the Haunted Mansion, where Jack Skellington brought in his own version of christmas, just like in Tim Burton’s original movie, A Nightmare Before Christmas. Disney also added a frightening element to Space Mountain. The ride itself had little to fear, but the line is what frightened off all the children! Be prepared to watch the space mountain towers glow an eerie red as alien howls sound off from within.

We completed our day with more thrilling rides in both California Adventure and Disneyland, my first trip to Cars Land, a tour of the sourdough factory (because sadly they closed the Mission Tortilla Factory 😦 no more maseca), a main street parade, the spectacular firework show, and tasty caramel apples. …Can’t wait to go back!

To close, I would like to share my favorite video, which will never be seen in person again.
