Healthy Popcorn Recipes | Make Italian Popcorn!
If you’re into healthy snacks, Italian cuisine, and popcorn recipes, then you’re in for a real treat!
Here’s what you’ll need to Make Italian Popcorn | Healthy Popcorn Recipes:
- Unpopped Kernels
- Olive Oil (any oil works)
- Chopped Tomatoes
- 2 Tbsp Pesto
- Parmesan Cheese
Steps For My Italian Popcorn Recipe:
Step 1 – Layer the olive oil in the bottom of your frying pan. (I’d recommend using a pan with a protective coating so it doesn’t burn)
Step 2 – Fill the bottom of the pan with popcorn kernels. Just eyeball this, there should be enough kernels to fill the bottom of the pan, and still be coated in oil.
Step 3 – Cover the pot or pan and set to HIGH heat. Wait for popping to begin (takes about 2-3 minutes). Shake the pan gently as popping continues. Turn off the stovetop once popping stops (about 5-6 minutes).
Step 4 – Meanwhile, chop the tomatoes! Large chunks are great.
Step 5 – Take the popcorn off the stove and dump it into a large bucket. Stir in pesto and tomatoes. Sprinkle with parmesan. Serve.
By this point all the ingredients have mixed together. The popcorn has a nice coating of Italian seasoning, and the texture is crunchy but also melts in your mouth.
Sometimes I eat the entire bucket of popcorn myself, sometimes I share it with others. I like using a large spoon because to eat because it keeps my hands clean.
